Sure Start is a government initiative established to work with expectant parents and with children up to four years of age. Sure Start aims to promote the physical, intellectual and social development of pre-school children to ensure they are ready to flourish when they get to school.
Coleraine Sure Start provides a wide range of activities and services to people living in the following areas:
- Harpur's Hill
- The Heights
- The Town centre
CommunitySure Start staff can to come in and chat to parents about available services, or on a topic of interest to the parents, such as Weaning, Speech and Language issues, dietary or dental advice. Early years resources are available on loan from the Toy and Book Library for the school to use - or lend out to parents.
Coleraine Sure Start also offers the Department of Education's Programme for Two Year Olds in three different settings in the Sure Start area:
